Joe&#8217;s manuscript gives this line as <i class=\"cor-cainte-teangan-eile\">n\u00f3 rud beag eile nach bhf\u00e9adaim tr\u00e1cht air<\/i> (or any other small, worthless thing).<\/p>\n<p>It appears that Joe recorded this song on no other occasion, yet it was one of the first he learned at home in Carna. He in fact contributed the words to Coimisi\u00fan B\u00e9aloideasa \u00c9ireann (the Irish Folklore Commission) sometime in the 1930s. He didn\u2019t name his informant on that occasion but his older brother Se\u00e1n contributed material to the Commission in 1932, naming their father as the source.<\/p>\n<p>Words and air were also collected by S\u00e9amas Ennis from Joe\u2019s cousin Colm \u00d3&nbsp;Caoidhe\u00e1in in Glinsce in the 1940s (CB\u00c9 1280: 729\u201330 and CC 018.049).
